At this point, I’m actually quite comfortable with the new Trek show really taking liberties with the source material, time frame, and cannon. I think one of the things that drives me batty about the new Doctor Who is that the constant drive towards nostalgic villains means they’re wedded to silly monster costumes and

Sounds like a job for the noble scarab beetle. The “Hey, are you going to finish that?” guys and gals of the animal kingdom.

What is the reaction of Stargate to this movie? Glad you asked.

I guess it just depends on the collector... other commenters have said that clearly IKEA is the way to go with this stuff, man. But when I looked at actual furniture stores, display cases are just ludicriously expensive compared with a bookshelf.

There were probably tons of other people that safely exited by one of the dozen other bridges and wondered what the big deal was.

Every single TV show is like that though.... apartments houses are naturally much larger than ours, so they can fit their film crew in there and still have some space for the actors to breath.

Hm. That’s good to know.... so often when I see nice cases for sale at furniture stores, they are a thousand dollars at least.

Yeah, actually, one of the downsides of my mineral collection is that I have a whole ton of random stuff... polished agate, bits of crystal I found sleucing at gem panning places as a kid, etc that I don’t really want to exhibit, but can’t exactly sell online either.

The one major barrier to it is that a display case costs a fairly large amount of money, especially for college/post college people. I’d highly recommend doing a scouting of thrift stores or resale shops, like Habitat’s ReStore, or any big fleemarket. I got a nice asian style wardrobe from a fleemarket vender for not

Also, it shouldn’t be forgotten that the stormtroopers Finn shoots were also shooting at him too. I forget who shot first, but he was definitely in a fight for his life in that situation.

I think any sort of collector needs to know how to properly exhibit his or her pile of loot in a way that doesn’t become a dusty hoard. Having a bunch of minerals and some fossils, I get off a little easier than action figure collectors, just because people tend to respect shineness.

I dunno, I’ll still take that over the little girl from WotW crying her damn head off, and the son wanting to commit suicide by alien.

I think District 9 really hit the sweet spot with found footage and regular viewpoints. A few shots from CCTV or cellphone cameras would have been fun, but you don’t need a whole movie of it.

When my friends and I were thinking about it after we saw it, I think it came down to a couple of things

He does already have eyepatch experience.

Hollywood doesn’t seem to get that being impaled is a problem.

Aliens can have whale lice too :)

Yeah, that would be my main criticism too, but they really only had about 10 to 15 minutes to set up those characters before we saw them in crisis. I suppose most sitcoms do a better job of it than that, but it’s kind of part for Giant Monster movies.... the only character I can remember from the dozen or so Godzilla

Oh yeah, I thought about including a youtube clip of that fight, which was probably one of the coolest Kaiju fights that still got the terror part of it right.
