I was thinking more of King David.... would we accept a movie where the hero murders a guy, makes his wife his sex slave, and then is punished by *her* getting miscarriages? And then his punishment is to be really, really sorry.

Certainly it all makes a lot more sense as a good story that people try to pull moral truths from, rather than a moral story that is supposed to be timeless.

As far as recommendations go, I’d always recommend some of great but now a little older animes like Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, and Escaflowne.... they are all quirky in their own ways, but with great world building.
