Any feedback from Bethesda on this? I just find it surprising the coding goes south in such a way when “peaceful solutions” are forced on it.

I’ve been playing a lot of GTA V lately, and every now and then the in-game radio stations unleash an 80s gem, such as this one, which coincidentally released the year I was born. And is an anthem of sorts in its own right:

Fwiw, there was a The Warriors video game created by Rockstar Games, of GTA fame, that fleshed out the characters to an extent, as it began 3 months prior to the events of the film. This touches on the reason these kinds of things slightly alarm me. Role playing through the motions forms connections in your psyche that make it easier for you to repeat those actions.

That's exactly why I haven't seen Sixth Sense to this day. It was spoiled for me, so no reason for me to watch it.
