In practice, I find the better dubs are the ones that take liberties with the source material. If the translation is too literal, the dialogue sounds stodgy and unnatural.

Absolutely this. But the other wrinkle is, if the translation is too conservative and literal, then you start to damage the nuances and context of the text. There’s nothing I hate more than reading dry, uninteresting dialog in subs that doesn’t perfectly translate anyway.

“Weapons like explosives take on the shape of plungers, rubber duckies, and Koopas. Whenever Mario uses a gun, it all seems extremely family-friendly.”

It’s just like kirby feet

It’s always nice to know I’m not the only one who loves riding my bike/Tauros in circles waiting for eggs to hatch.

it’s cheating without a possible doubt, if that form of cheating can be allowed or not is a completely different thing. It’s true that it doesn’t matter if you train your pokemon manually or not at that point

As a smogon ladder contender I couldn’t agree more. People in our community are so divided between Smogon and VGC. I think if the Pokémon is fully legal, who the fuck cares?

Argument against: It makes legit hard work meaningless done by other players

It makes sense though.

Oh it is cheating...but when you want to be competitive with those who can spend hundreds of hours breeding (not skill, time and RNG) or are cheating as well to avoid the hundreds of hours of breeding because of the horrendously flawed design of it all, it becomes a bit understandable, so long as everything is within

We cheat in games because:

No I’m pretty sure it’s because of the mean ESS JAY DUBBYAS who are simultaneously a tiny minority with no connections to gaming AND powerful lobbyists capable of bullying multimillion dollar media companies into diversity and other such terrible things.

Blizzard also had to apologize about

If two companies sign NDAs between themselves, individual employees do not have to sign them to still be bound by them while doing their official duties. If a NDA had been signed, then Forbes was legally obligated to remove that story, and someone should have been fired for letting it get published in the first place.

If they gave it another year before release, I wonder how it would have been received. The incremental improvements were tremendous.

Well, if you consider that our last ice age was 10,000 years ago, things were pretty much the same (speaking relative to today) from a technology perspective for 9,000+ of those years.

I thought I felt the same way, but I came out of this liking Rabbids.
