  • Which show is the best at teaching people how to cook? I’m going to agree with the Good Eats folks. I still love the cookie episode where he showed how changing ratios or ingredients (brown vs. white sugar) could change the texture of a basic cookie recipe.

Yeah I was surprised to see the lemons in that pic. I don’t know if that would be a fridge priority for me in a small space.

This just happened to my boyfriend and I. Normally we’d just grab something before the show, but we were running late and I was starving. So I paid for his ticket, and he got the food and drinks. $34 for 2 drinks, pretzels, and a tiny thing of onion rings. Movie food just isn’t worth it, that would have been dinner

I agree completely. With ticket prices near me, it’s still cheaper than 1 matinee per month. I’d be happy with 4 per month, a movie a week is reasonable and still a bargain.

I need to try this ratio. I asked my barista friend what their home coffee method preference would be, and they said Chemex for both hot or iced.

I was just thinking I first made my kinja account when Jezebel had a sugar baby article a few years ago, and it was a much less positive take back then.

I hate to say it, but she’s in Pennsylvania, so I assume it was a puppy mill. My boyfriend and I couldn’t hide our reaction when his mom’s neighbor proudly told us they’d just gotten their adorable cockapoo puppy in Lancaster county.

She’s a very happy dog who’s pretty set in her ways and has a wonderful walker come 2-3 times a day (with shorter strolls from the care worker,) but we think the aggression came from her feeling like she had to protect the frail grandmother on walks-she’s generally most relaxed if my boyfriend or the male walker is

My mom and I got a late middle age/senior mini-dachshund from her boss when his daughter was born with severe allergies, and he was an awesome old man.

This is a huge issue for my bf and his mom right now, because his grandmother has a 90+ lb goldendoodle with some behavioral problems (leash aggression, mostly, which is an issue for a city dog.) A huge motivation for helping to keep her in her home with in-home care (and a dog walker!) has been letting her keep the

I can say for the DC area, I just moved a few stops farther out, to a station that is the end-point for half the trains during rush hour (and the start in the morning on the way in) and getting a guaranteed seat on those trains is awesome. So much easier to read a book when you’re not worried about falling into

Anyone know if this would work if you’ve pre-paid for Spotify Premium? I did the $99 for the year back in December.

Interesting, I wonder if this is what happened to me. I’ve always had normal armpits, but I used a different brand than my usual (store-brand or name brand of the same variety depending on price, no issue switching there) that was given to me as a gift. Gave me horrible, painful rashes that were difficult to treat,

Helpful, thank you! I have a feeling that source could answer a lot of the questions in this thread.

I don’t know how to ask this and not sound suicidal/homicidal, but what happens to Parent PLUS loans if either I or my parent dies? Does my non-custodial parent have any impact on that?

If I’m doing a long-simmer sauce to use canned tomatoes, I love to start with a nearly-caramelized onion, quickly add some garlic, then deglaze that with the wine. I cook it down a smidge before the rest of the ingredients are added. I also enjoy tossing in 2-3 bay leaves when the herbs go in, it just somehow makes it

When I recently moved I thought my aloe plant would be happy to be in a full-sun window after being in my shaded bedroom for years and nearly killed it, so I understand your pain. It’s now resting in the corner of the kitchen to acclimate and is already doing better.

I love the Romans in that one:

Yes, I loved it! My boyfriend is a curly-haired landscaper, so I think he was very amused by my Monty crush and desire to get him a pair of suspenders.

Maybe useful programming of projects and ideas to try in the Home and Garden? That isn’t completely renovating?
