I went to a reading/talk he did at an outdoor music venue, and it was magical.

My microeconomics professor at my very expensive, private urban university showed us a similar study that indicated that students who got into top-tier schools but went to less-expensive/prestigious options were as successful as their peers in those top-tier schools.
My best friend (my freshman college roommate) had taken a year off and taught in China. That extra experience and maturity really helped her stand out on campus, grow into leadership roles, and avoid the foolishness I was getting into. She’s now successfully working in international business, so she certainly wasn’t…
The Gabifresh bikinis from swimsuits for all are great. (Or at least the one I got a few seasons ago was!) I have one from them, and one from Torrid I mix and match, and both have exactly the “rigging” you’re talking about. Nice wide back straps and good adjustable parts to get everything where you want it, and then…
YESS! This was the place to go in high school before weekend theater practice.
Good point, off-season is usually the way to score deals.
My second pair of leggings in two weeks just gave out at the thigh seams last night, and I do not have enough spares to get me through to sundress weather. But, it also feels silly to buy thick leggings now.
I was lucky, I had taken the day off of work for a medical thing that wasn’t as difficult as I thought, so I had a leisurely weekday afternoon to take it in. I went to one of their other popular exhibits when a friend was in town, and it was nuts.
I loved this exhibit. It was a really neat experience to both take the time to really appreciate the detail and focus on my own, and have a few conversations with other people about what we thought the scenario was. I don’t know if I’ve quietly muttered “wow” under my breath so often in a museum before.
I’ve emailed my close group of friends of a similar age to get feedback on a job offer, and honestly a little pump-up when I went to counter that offer. I think it was helpful to have a group to check in with and hear “no, you’re right, that’s way too low for DC with your experience” and to make sure my counter wasn’t…
God this. There’s a trendy taco place in an old shipping container I went to with friends recently for happy hour, and I’ve never been anywhere as miserably loud for no reason. A bunch of people, booze, and a metal tube is not a fun combination.
It never occurred to me not to tell my mom, because I pay the Parent PLUS loans in her name, so it’s important she knew how much I was making and that I could handle them. I’m not sure if I told my dad- I may have when I got the job offer, but otherwise I don’t know when it would have come up.
Those voicemails are the worst, especially when they aren’t clear in saying their name/number so I can check and see if we’ve emailed about the issue already.
I put something back at IKEA before buying yesterday, and was very proud of myself. I just moved and was getting some apartment essentials, so it was too easy to say “we need this” to everything.
I had the same issue with the Sephora/Public Transportation one. I guess the metro being terrible is the sign of the times, but I’d pick a functional system over makeup. But since Sephora hasn’t caught on fire to my knowledge, it beat the metro.
I made tofu fries and buffalo cauliflower for dinner recently, and was amused that I flipped the traditional roles of protein and vegetables. I think all of the diet substitutions have made food a little bit unpredictable and fun.
I think I’m going to use the bluegrass cover of this if we don’t elope, because I love that my younger family will all recognize it, and the older ones will love it too.
Imaginary/future for now, but “The Idea of Growing Old” by the Features.
I had a horrible reaction to the CeraVe face cleanser, which seemed so odd to me. I bought it (luckily just a travel size!) thinking that is was a brand good for sensitive skin, and was sorely mistaken.
This is crazy to me. When I was in high school, Bill and Hillary Clinton gave a campaign speech at a neighboring school. Our social studies teacher told us “I can’t encourage you to cut class, but this is important, so you should go.”
