This would have been mine as well. Just because I got into the expensive private college out of state doesn’t mean that’s where I needed to go.

I feel like LMM wound up doing Ben Franklin proud, especially when the Franklin Institute verified so much of this:

I was thinking about making buffalo cauliflower to bring to a super bowl party this weekend where I was asked to provide the vegetarian/vegan options, but I’d like to get some advice about how to keep it warm and palatable. I was thinking about doing the hotforfood cauliflower 3 ways, for variety.

I think I just need to skip the shop altogether, and avoid temptation.

I have the same goal! 2 buses and everything.

I would be so happy if they’d add a blonde roast iced coffee. I don’t get why drip hot coffee gets 2-3 choices, and now espresso is lighter, but iced coffee only comes in burnt.

The books in these libraries are spread throughout the community- you don’t have to go out of your way to a physical library, you can swing by and check out what’s available while you’re out walking the dog. They encourage people to stop and chat with neighbors, I found they made my old (much more walkable)

The only time I’ve considered using it is for team rides- here in DC, we have Freezing Saddles for winter bike rides, where you’re assigned a team and earn points based on number of days biked and distance. They require strava to compare everyone’s rides and to keep the contest fair.

The Radio Television Digital News Association has scholarships and fellowships aimed at making newsrooms more diverse, and the deadline ends next week:

I actually appreciate this article. Yes, it’s obviously extreme, but so many of the “I paid off my student loans in 2 years!” stories I see shared in personal-finance media are people who get jobs in high-paying fields, and have the salaries to cover their costs, especially if they live with a parent or partner.

I’ve been a vegetarian for over 20 years now, so I know I’m not the market for the fake-meat veggie burgers, but I hated the Beyond Burger. I get what they were trying to do with the color, the smoke, and the texture, but I’d just rather eat a patty made out of grains/vegetables/whatever that are recognizable, and

Yeah I tried them twice, once near my office and once at home. I don’t think either was flipped, they seemed more like underdone fried eggs than over easy.

I became much more flexible when I went to college, and my roommate/ now best friend is very well traveled, and is from LA. I realized when I went to visit her that we were going to tiny, authentic places that didn’t have menus in English, and that I should just enjoy it.

I think this also ties in with the health-buzz around a Mediterranean style diet. It’s become a short-cut for saying fresh vegetables, a little meat or fish, and olive oil.

I’ve been a vegetarian since I was six. I knew to avoid McDonald’s, but usually resort to fries vs. limp salads at any fast food place on a road trip. Glad to see my expectation of oil+potato+salt is generally reasonable.

In Walt’s memory, I’d like to highlight one of the groups she worked with, RTDNA, formerly RTNDA, has a number of scholarships and fellowships dedicated to minority students.

Calling and asking to have a fee removed can also be very helpful, if you have a good history with your bank. I did this with Ally when the hotel hold on a work trip went over my balance. I hadn’t overdrafted before, so they waived the fee.

I think there can be a bit of a learning curve to meal planning, and you’re not a failure if your first few attempts don’t work. Try different things to get a feel for what works for you.

This is a very valuable piece, thank you!
