Damn straight. Dude’s got to drop at least 100 lbs to get to 400.

It would be irresponsible not to speculate.
What a fucking prick. He’d rather retire than stand for the national anthem!?
Oh don’t worry, they’ll shoot them long before they try to run.
Hillary tells the same lies politicians have been telling since known history: Trump shits on people for his personal gain.
In your first comment:
It’s a mind-numbing stupid explanation for why Trump is doing well, but it’s also very close to the truth. Obviously #notallTrumpvoters, but many. My small sample size of friends and family certainly fall into that or the “I’m not voting for a woman” category.
Scope of lying matters. The other responses here are correct that many non-partisan outlets have checked his speeches and find that he offers falsehoods with almost every sentence. It’s not even close when the two are monitored against each other: Trump just makes shit up much, much more frequently.
Saw a Larry Wilmore quote on Twitter today that I feel like covers this pretty well:
“Hillary Clinton lies like a politician. Donald Trump lies like an alcoholic.”
In your example, the moderator is effectively the judge, who ensures that the trial proceeds according to the law, and that counsel does not make statements that are not consistent with the rules of the justice system; e.g. claiming that a defendant’s choice to exercise his 5th Amendment rights are an indication of…
If you think their credibility regarding the truth is comparable -- as you clearly do -- you clearly haven’t been constantly reading anything at all. Like many politicians, Clinton has played it loose with the truth on occasion. Trump constantly and consistently lies about a broad spectrum of things that are basic…
I don’t believe the assumption is that Hillary isn’t a liar, and certainly not not a liar within the bounds defined for politicians. I think the issue is that Trump has gone far beyond the typical bounds. Clinton may lie (and I genuinely despise her for it), but there is at least a consistent narrative to it. Trump…
Drop by a nonpartisan fact-checking site like Politifact or Factcheck.org and you’ll see the proportions of how often they lie. Seriously, do it. It will soon become clear.
The irony here is that this article is not about Donald Trump, but more broadly about a moderator’s responsibility in a debate between powerful public figures who will tell lies, and commenters overwhelmingly have taken it to be about him.
In that instance, a moderator stifling a chuckle and saying something akin to “Candidate X, your rebuttal in two minutes or less” says more than any fact checking could.
Any candidate willing to wildly spout falsehoods, as you have built in your straw argument
Who says I think that? As I’ve said to other commenters, I know Trump’s supporters don’t care about whether he’s lying. Persuading Donald Trump’s supporters actually is not the only reason for a person to tell the truth!
No, I’m advocating treating lying like it is against the rules of the debate. A referee will step in, pause a fight, and announce a penalty if a boxer throws a rabbit punch; the other boxer is not responsible for pointing the rabbit punch out to the judges.
Sure, but I don’t care about any of that.
I don’t care about that! The reason to tell the truth is not that it might accomplish some strategic political goal like defeating a particular candidate. The reason to tell the truth is that it is the truth.
