Exactly this. I’m all for taxing the rich (more than they’re taxed now) and calling them out on their shit, but this ship is cool and I’m happy to see it’s being repurposed.

Seriously, I’m all for hating on billionaries, but as billionaire yachts go, this is pretty cool.

So they’re repurposing a ship that would otherwise be dismantled in an environmentally friendly manner, and your take is it’s bad, just because it’s for a billionaire?

1. A car that was just totaled, without full coverage

With any bureaucracy, the most common phrase is “that’s not my job”. Finding a person who has the authority to actually help you out is the difficult part.

Yeah, if I am liable for damages caused by my stolen car, I would far prefer my car get away cleanly. The loss of the car vs so much more is an easy call. Beyond the liability, I really don’t want anyone to die because police were trying to recover my property, regardless of legal implications.

This. Years ago I was proceeding through a green light in my Maxima SE when a Chevy Caprice (60s vintage, a huge car) ran the red light and t-boned the passenger side. Literally pushed me through the intersection an up onto the curb. As my car went over the curb, still being pushed sideways, my driver’s side door took

Instructions unclear. Townhall just burned down...

Yeah. I believe the theory is you recover damages from the owner, and then it’s up to the owner to go after the actual driver.

Star for the comment and another imaginary star for the username and avatar.

Wow. How fucked is that. First off the insurance. Whenever I make a change they make me email the request so its in writing. There should be some sort of record of change as adding a new car shouldn’t trigger a change in another.

Why though? that is such a stupidly worded law.

It’s a shame that the article didn’t name and shame the insurance company. That is some total bullshit if he’s telling the truth.

Or forcing them off the road into a gas station, causing $100k or so in damages, then handing you bill. Maybe even causing a death, and giving you a wrongful death claim to defend.

1. Lawyer, lawyer, lawyer

If they change his policy without his consent, a good lawyer can probably straighten that out real quick.

The thief can work a prison job until he covers cleanup, then he can be free. Incredibly wild that they let him walk.

I was in an accident and received a bill from the fire department for fluid cleanup. I didn’t like it, but I get it. How in the hell can they bill the owner of a stolen car? It wasn’t his fault! Maybe they billed the owner because the thief wouldn’t pay anyway.
