A question for TP fans: would you rather have had Lynch complete his original vision for the series, or would you rather have this new series?

I finished watching Twin Peaks for the first time, and oh god, mid-season 2 is so boring that at a certain point it just became background noise.

I want long, ponderous but beautiful movies before I want air.

You cannot do this and expect to appreciate the series. You can skip a few season 2 episodes, but there are so many important tidbits that only make sense if you know other tidbits from other episodes. You should have written a list of skippable episodes, instead of "essential" episodes.
