Lol, I’m in Carmel - that should tell you what a slog canvassing has been! Sooo many people told me I was wasting my time putting efforts in here, but Hamilton County turned light pink on the result map... so little by little we get there!

Yes - I was losing the passion toward the end there with those commercials where he was desperately trying to flirt with moderates. I get why he did it, but my enthusiasm to canvass and donate was waning. And I’m with you - Bernie was my man in the ‘16 primaries!! But purity tests earn us nothing.

She *thinks* she does, but does not actually pay attention to real numbers and trends. Just like pretty much the entire state of Indiana. I think that civic ignorance is probably one of the greatest problems we are facing right now, and it doesn’t look like that’s going to change.

So, let me give you the inside view. She and I both grew up in conservative evangelical households. We are Christians; were regular churchgoers.

Yes, a few. First and foremost, it was mostly to try and hold the line - hoping against noted odds that Dems could gain a majority in the senate, and also knowing that the alternative would be much worse. The 43% of the state that voted for Donnelly now have no representation at all - now it’s just two Trump-fellating

This^^. I have a close friend who KNOWS that I spent a significant amount of time hitting the pavement to canvass for what was our lone democratic senator (after last night we are stuck with two republican assholes instead). We’ve had many discussions about the state of this country and have been in agreement about

I liken it to the focus on weddings/wedding planning over the actual marriage to follow. The popular focus on “my personal, special birth plan unlike anyone else’s” can remove focus from the actual person resulting from that birth.

That would be because most of his supporters have something mentally wrong with them.

I’m in Indiana too. I’m so pissed off - why is this state populated by so many self-loathing assholes?

I feel you. I worked my ass off to hold onto Joe Donnelly, even when he did shit that pissed me off. I donated, I canvassed ALL the time. He is such a fence-straddler and the other guy was such a piece of shit that the fucking KOCH BROTHERS wouldn’t even back him. And yet - Indiana’s gonna Indiana.

OMG, my hubs has voted in Republican Primaries in the past, and we received that one with Nancy Pelosi/Joe Donnelly. They’ve been bombarding our mailbox with this fear mongering bullshit, lol!! Here’s another fine example. Are they confused? Do they think that Hillary, Pelosi, Schumer or Obama are running for office

It’s not gonna work. We’re too intellectual, we’re too smart for that, you know?

Yassss!! She’s a badass!

My anxiety started yesterday, so I dropped by my local dem office to sign up for one last canvassing shift. Almost no one was home, but those I did talk to seemed pretty passionate (again, all dems, since it was GOTV time) and all had a plan to vote/already knew where their polling place was.

“...open fire on each weapons manufacturer as he’s giving head to some Republican senator...”

Hahahahaha, thank you for this!

I love ephemera like this! Posters that idealize what they’re meant to promote... although I do love canning. The reality is that you feel very accomplished when you’re done with your canning project and home-canned is light years better than any factory-canned thing you can buy off the shelf at a grocery store!

Hahahaha, I just noticed that. I imagine that a marriage to Bryan Adams would be kind of a hazy delight, being awoken in the morning by saccharine ballads and floppy 90's hair. Sounds ok.

One of the natural and most pleasing outcomes of being divorced from an ex-husband with whom I had no children (and therefore have had almost no contact with over the years), is that the time and distance has allowed me to remember him and the fun times that we had together fondly (and from the interaction we have had,

Are there still editors on the payroll?
