This frickin’ movie. This appeared in the kids’ section on Netflix last fall and while I was in the ‘caring for a newborn’ haze of up-all-night exhaustion and hormonal tumult, I let my six year old watch about half of it before I realized, “Holy fuck this is nightmare fuel!”

My own body issues started in 7th grade when a boy i had a mad crush on called me a fat ass. I would make sure only to wear shirts that were long enough to cover my behind from then on, for like 2 years. Isn’t it crazy what one statement can do at such an impressionable stage? Yikes.

All of this. I’ve always had a problem with Amy Schumer’s comedy because of the way she makes all these self-deprecating fat jokes and she actually isn’t fat at all (I’ve probably got 5-10 pounds on Schumer and I myself don’t even tip BMI over into the overweight category).
