Isn’t the whole “Adventure Bike” thing kind of old hat for Harley?
Isn’t the whole “Adventure Bike” thing kind of old hat for Harley?
I rode a KLR on the street (in LA & Bay Area), with 38 really angry horses between my knees. At times it was scary; it just didn’t have the top end for California freeways (and yes, we commute on the freeway).
If you’re on a budget, look for an ‘07 and older RFS based KTM. Easy to work on (screw tappet valve adjustment) and you can do anything with that engine you want from a mild 400 to a fire breathing 600+. If you’ve got money to burn, then go ‘12 and up with EFI. My ‘13 450XCW is at 170 hours and I haven’t even checked…
Haha no way man. You want that nimble frame. Makes it significantly easier to handle in the dirt
Lol the CB is not an adventure bike. At all. The plastic on the sides are the fuel tanks as well as on the rear fender. That windshield is for aero reasons. Your helmet is for visibility. If your going for speed you drop below that. This is what every Dakar bike looks like. If you're serious about true adventure this…
Sadly, this does not look like the kind of machine that would sell well worldwide. As for the North American market, you are going to get a lot of “45hp? Why would I ever want something that slow?” mainly from people who have no clue beyond the fact that all their friends would laugh at them if they showed up on…
I have a Husky 501 dual sport and love it. I put a more comfortable seat on it, but to get a bike that can truly go off-road it is what a dual sport needs to be. I take to the MX track and it is as good as anything out there. On the street the gearing works. Tire choice is the trickiest. Dual sport is a compromise and…
750? too much weight in all those motors. We need a 450 single or a similar motor to aprilias 550 twin.
Or get KTM to make this affordable:
Ha, ha, ha, Sean. You are so funny. This is Honda we are talking about. You are going to be disappointed.
You don’t always have to pretend you’re riding Laguna Seca every time you get on your bike.
Purely looks. The Xdiavel is a better bike, but I’d buy a Hyper or Monster before it, because those are way better. If I’m buying a cruiser, I want one that looks like what I want a cruiser to look like. And, in that regards, the Ducati is just gaudy. It’s the sort of thing Anthony Bucci would ride (along with the MV…
you think anyone who buys a Harley gives one shit about the bike in your pic?
+1 to the others. This review isn’t even close to selling out. There is no verbatim marketing BS taken from a press release, overly laudatory compliments or lack of fair and honest detriments — it’s merely an objective review that gives honest impressions that actually matter to someone who would be wondering about…
Why does there always have to be one of these posts any time an article even mentions Harley?
Yes we get that some people don’t like Harley, and that’s fine.
But guess what else? Plenty of people do and that is also fine.
If you don’t like Harley there are other bikes to buy and other articles to read.
Don’t apologize for testing (and liking) Harleys. They dominate the market, so clearly their bikes interest a lot of people, especially when they come out with a bike like this. I think the S series is brilliant because it’s basically a CVO sans all the useless cosmetics.
Another great review and read. I like that you’re writing for an audience that isn’t immediately receptive to the content and I think you’re doing a great job addressing concerns from a fresh perspective. Sport riders can find enjoyment in cruisers and vise versa. I own a sport bike and have been itching to get…
And really lame to ride around town on. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad you’re happy with your decision. But it’s also okay that there are guys who’d happily shell out for this and think you’re nuts.
That’s actually Lindsay, who’s an inch or so taller than I am. I’m 6 feet tall.
HD would say “If it ain’t broke, don’t break it”. Does this mean you don’t “get” cruisers in general or are you just singling out HDs? The bikes are loud only because their owners put on loud pipes. (which sucks, but whatever) Yes they are heavy; big cruisers typically are. As far as the mystique part, that’s your…
I can’t say anything about the Low Rider S, but I sold my ‘13 Street Bob and “downgraded” to a CB1100. I would say it’s a better bike in every quantifiable way, but you definitely miss out on some intangibles. There is a certain community one enters into when riding a Harley that you don’t necessarily get when riding…
