As I covered in my response to Green Pig, any of several types of material appropriate for affixing passive-aggressive notes may be used. That would include, but would not be limited to, staples, tape, thumbtacks, tack, Silly Putty (in certain climates), an eagle’s talon and some of Madonna’s stage costumes.

That system is good because it informs people that their cars have been impounded and, along with VIN and other identification numbers, can help to find stolen vehicles. You are also right…

But with cars we have a system in place to notify you that your car has been impounded. I’m just sayin’ that there should be a note, or a plate system or at least something because the police generally aren’t going to be very helpful in finding a stolen bike.

I’ve already gotten at least one chastisation (I don’t think that’s a word, but it should be) for thinking that the city should leave a note if they take a bike...
