Due to all his film and TV roles it's sometimes easy to forget Spacey is a complete legend and a nice guy.

References mediocre combat scenarios while stating a preference for top-down Zeldas. That's bold.

We can partly blame movies like 2001 for this trope, because that film had its share of incomprehensible transcendent something something lurking beneath its futuristic snark.

One of the things I like about 2001: A Space Odyssey is that Stanley Kubrick doesn't muck up the movie relating too much back-story. Kubrick indicates his astronauts lives through their interaction with electronic communication: Heywood Floyd talks to his daughter on the phone, Dave Bowman appears on TV, Frank Poole

"Work of fiction did not possess the special effects or intellectual resources to replicate real life space travel. Broke my immersion. 1/10. Detected a trope- withdrawing my 1 to give this movie -1/10. I'm entitled to all the nice things."

Even the two most recent Star Trek movies were more about politics than exploration.

Faulkner: "Mankind shall not only survive, but prevail."

"According to the gas chromatograph, the secret ingredient is... love?!? Who's been screwing with this thing?"

Just said the same thing. And that's what ruined those books for me. I wish I'd stopped after Fall of Hyperion.
