@Astrodude: None of the people you quote there know why he did this, though - they're assuming just as much as you are. He was clearly pretty sick mentally and wasn't getting any help for it.

@Dralel: Yes, clearly this guy's motivation was all the fame he'd be getting. Obviously. It doesn't sound at all like he was a person with severe emotional and psychological issues including outright psychoses, nope.

@José Joel: If this is true then I apologize, but I can't believe for a moment that any exemption that applies to a smartphone couldn't also be argued for a PS3.

@José Joel: Pay attention, boy-o, that was updated recently. It's like...we can change laws or something in this country! Madness!

@IAmAGenius: Nobody sane is arguing whether or not it's happening, the question is whether or not man-made advances are influencing it.

@Michael Hayes: Yeah. And even if you decide it's worth paying extra for the functionality, there's no way in the nine Hells that AT&T will allow those of us lucky enough to be grandfathered in to an unlimited data plan on the mobile hotspot bandwagon. Sad day.

Well that's interesting. It'll probably be a step up from their current system of reporting, where you send your complaint with a screenshot to a support email address that never even gets checked.

@José Joel: EULAs are almost never held up in court and the courts just ruled recently that jailbreaking a piece of hardware that you own doesn't violate the DMCA. Keep shootin' there, cowboy, you'll hit something someday.

@Numanoid: Whether it enables piracy or not, you can't sue someone for hacking a console that they've paid money for, and the courts have already upheld that as a right in the previous iPhone jailbreaking case (also involving GeoHot, unless I'm mistaken). Sony basically wants to piss all over consumer rights, which

Okay, so when are the Fender Strat controllers coming out for those of us who don't have a MIDI guitar?

Great! Now when will they allow you to turn Shuffle off through voice commands?

@ryoshi: ...Did I really just promote my own comment? How does that even work? Is that from my io9/Kotaku stars?

Well, duh. I mean HD signal over HDMI is checksummed, it's not like the cheap cables are going to have any loss of picture quality.

Of course there's "no money in third-party retail" for the Wii if nobody will even bother publishing third party titles for the system at all anymore. What the hell.

Bah. My 40" 1080p TV only refreshes at 60MHz, so I couldn't use any of this 3-D crap without buying an entirely new TV even if I wanted to.

Man, count me among the very very few people who just don't 'get' Dogmeat. I mean, maybe I'm jaded - the only game that I've spent a significant time with him is the original Fallout, and most of that experience was spent trying to make sure he didn't get caught in doorways or run in front of the guy I was trying to

@zaghy2zy: Uh, point 2 and everything that follows from there is wrong: Nick Denton, owner of Gawker, has his admin password set to '24862486', which is what we call in the industry "piss-poor fetal-alcohol-syndrome weak". Using that password, the hackers were able to get access to the database and steal all the

@pekosROB: Get me a pre-order link for this, I desperately want one.
