I think the potential future of Tesla as a mega tech company drove the stock up much more than the fundamentals of business. In hybrids the gas engine is stopping and starting more often than most stop-start ICE cars, and those seem to hold up just fine. Granted most hybrids don’t have a starter motor, but otherwise it’s the same wear and tear.

There was a Ford focus program that could change the mileage when I had one. I didn’t bother to change it since I was planning to run it into the ground, but the same program allowed me to activate features the car didn’t have, like hill hold and rolling the windows down via the fob.

An eCVT is nothing like a regular CVT. eCVT’s are much more reliable, they are more like a center differential, they have no belts and a fixed gear ratio. It just controls whether the car is being propelled by electric, gas or both.
