I didn’t expect to see this set, but I was at my parents’ home when they decided to watch. (While I educate where I can, I don’t police what my family watches.) So, I sat through this before reading about it. And, I have to say, this article nails it. He sounds like an old fool; one of those guys you’ll hear in any…
These so called toxic workplaces just sound like workplaces from my experience.
Co-sign. I think it’s one of his best and certainly better than some of his more mediocre efforts. One of my favorite travel stories was being on an early Monday flight that was 80% men traveling for business. This was when everyone got the same movie on the seatback screen, and on that day the movie was Big Fish.…
I don’t believe these are actually in the intended order here. I really can’t imagine who would put Sweeney Todd or Big Fish lower than Charlie, Alice, Dark Shadows, or Sleepy Hollow.
::sees Big Fish abysmally low, eclipsed by late-career trash::
I also agree. It’s a fantastic film. Probably my favorite of his.
That was my biggest gripe with this list. It’s a great movie and one of the few I’d say surpasses the book it’s based on.
I’d place Big Fish much higher, especially over Dark Shadows. Yeh, it’s corny at times, but also kinda delightful and the episodic nature of it works well...
Boots Riley faced the same kind of criticism for distributing his upcoming tv show through Amazon.
You seem to be on a weird crusade here, and I don’t understand what it is. The writer neither implied that the Sex Pistols were fascists, nor mentioned the Dead Kennedy’s at all. What are you trying to get at?
Why? The writer didn’t remotely imply the Pistols were fascist. It’s also not like every member’s political stances, then and now, are super progressive.
Latter day AV Club writer has gall to complain about syntax.
A recently read a twitter comment that was essentially: “Oprah Winfrey is Joe Rogan for women” and that really does a great job summing it up.
The essay (and this article) don’t include any dates, but per Wikipedia (so take it with a grain of salt) this went into pre-production in 1991, so her age and respective stature would line up with what Zwick lays out here.
Actually, the disabled community has A LOT of beefs with Family Guy, and his character is a big one. Regardless of your feelings one way or another, I guarantee you that he’s been criticized and asked to apologize about the show quite a bit.
Un-fucking-believable they wrote these headlines on the same day
the man who allegedly laid beneath his ex-wife’s car to prevent her from bringing another man her special salad dressing. Or maybe the oversaturation of celebrity gossip adds something to Sudeikis’ portrayal; after all, Ted, too, is an extremely Divorced Dude. Life imitates art, etc. etc.
I knew this headline and article was click-bait bullshit as soon as I saw it and yet, here I am.
It wasn’t purely fan speculation. That’s how it was covered by the media, with the show’s producers and PR people being fully aware of that and never even trying to issue a correction. They cultivated the “tryout” speculation without ever actually saying the word out loud to avoid legal repercussions. It was just as…
