A lot of the baggage that was associated w/ the term “emo” has subsided, and some of the old guard bands no longer seem to view it as an epithet and have grudgingly accepted it. Plus so many of the people who grew up on that music are now in their mid-late 30s so the nostalgia pull is strong.
