I have fewer quibbles than most book readers I’ve talked to (a small sample, and I haven’t started reading comments here yet).

I’ve gotta disagree on a few points here. I think moving the reveal of the portals between worlds up is a smart move, as is giving the reveal of Lyra’s father to Mrs. Coulter, kind of for similar reasons.

So yeah, we all have different opinions on this, and everyone has their right to express them, but am I the only one who’s a little surprised that a pop culture website has had such a consistent tone of “look at the nerds whining that their little spandex films aren’t considered art”? Scorsese’s work, which is pop

Why does a homophobic reality TV contestant get an RIP article on AVClub ?

i respect dowd’s views but this is what i call “another movie” review - the reviewer doesn’t like the movie b/c he wished it was another movie altogether. it’s one thing to say an artist failed in making his art but it’s unfair to say the art is bad b/c it’s not what the reviewer wanted/expected. dowd seems to want a

What a weird and sour review. I have no idea why Perkins is so fixated on the (admittedly annoying) Brent character. I certainly wouldn’t assume, as Perkins does, that Brent will be a major character for the entire season and that he’ll always be the way he is in this episode. The show does so many resets and crazy

if there’s one element of The Good Place that hasn’t always been consistently clear, it’s stakes.... the show has shied away from much of the real horror awaiting Team Cockroach (and, you know, all of us)...

Whiney manbabies really are all over the Internet.

What stopped Della from reaching the corn in the first place? This adventure wasn't mysterious. Once you find the secret entrance under the statue, you basically just keep going, right?

Magica uses the Sands of Time to send Scrooge to the future in the OG series episode “Duck to the Future.” “The Menehune Mystery” is a DuckTales comic set in Hawaii involving Scrooge, Donald, the triplets, and the Beagle Boys. I don’t know if “the Beast Beneath the Bin” is a reference to something specific under the Mo

The Page We See of Della’s Journal:

The triplets summed up:

As Huey notes, the carts weren’t mine carts; they were corn carts. The show should have used that line as a winking way for us to have our chase without breaking the “no mine cart chase" rule.

Nice detail: In the beginning of the episode, the statue of Coot has a gun and a sword. In the end, it has two ears of corn.

HERE STANDS CORNELIUS COOT

I pretty much agree with everything in this review. This was a fine episode, not great but fine.

OMG, you're totally right. She is Mrs. Quackfaster. How weird!

100% with you on this one. If the sum total of 42 years, nine installments, and billions of dollars worth of storytelling is that the super talented young woman who saves the galaxy really IS double-super-secret Space Princess, then this last trilogy will officially suck harder than any of the prequels.

“parents were nobodies” was the absolute best possible answer to the bullshit mystery about Rey’s origins that could possibly exist.
