Is it just me or do the numbers for the machine seem really low to do much of any good? 200 gallons of water a minute sounds like a lot but in the ocean it's friggin nothing. An Olympic swimming pool holds 660,253 gallons. 1 of these machines would take 55 hours just to clean 1 pool. Currently more then 1.8 Million

@PN - gooapplesoft: except they get you to sign the contract saying it's so they can recover the cost of the hardware. However people buying the hardware outright don't get a discount on the service which according to cell phone companies contains a markup to make up for the hardware discount. They're effectively

@Godfail: That’s great they already have the standard then they just need to use it. Which pretty much makes this article about MS switching to Apples code pointless.

I don't agree. I think Microsoft should keep it's standard (whatever that is.) Apple likes to have absolute control of it's devices and software. Even their open source code if adopted by MS could be blocked from Apple devices if Apple chooses to do so. The next generation of the code could be locked down giving Apple

@timgray: I think that's the point he was making. Until you can get legal copies easier then illegal copies people will continue to download. They need to come up with legal online on demand hosting of TV.

@CaptainJack: "Think if some massive hive of insects figured out how to alter the weather to reduce the pesky human problem and to allow their kind to thrive"

@kingcrim84: Ah we've been fighting nature forever. It's only going to continue. Eventually she'll give up. Then we win right?

@xdozex: Luckily there won't be much left in the Gulf of Mexico to damage.

@Dacker: The virgin Galactic is advertising prices of $200k. Supposedly that's in the near future. If they’re successful with commercial tourists flights I could only see that price dropping over time.

@Dacker: Depending on how old you are you could posibly add going into space or at least the sub-orbital limits. In 20 years I could see it being relativly affordable.

@aec007: That's really awesome.

No video of stuff being lit on fire?

@ProsumeThis: I'm oddly okay with this. China has been developing quickly and is quickly pulling itself out of the third world. As standards of living rise in China, labour costs will also start to rise. Industry will begin to adopt more automation. (someone makes the production machines and someone fixes them)

@ProsumeThis: I read somewhere that Foxcon costs to Apple were something like 2% of the sale price of the Ipod. If they doubled wages and that actually meant a 4% cost (which it doesn't because of parts/shipping/markup. An extra 2% on the cost of an Ipod is not noticeable.

That makes sense. Insurance here doesn't give family pay packages if you kill yourself.

@InsertBullets: Yeah the good old days when women were in the kitchen, Men went to work and war. And there was only one religion in the world which was right..... When we could dump toxic waste in our backyards and in the rivers and not think twice about it. Just dump it in the ocean. There's lots of room. Ahh the

@kicsrules: I used to have issues with HD playback of all kinds. I don't have any issues with .mkv video playback anymore. Im running a fairyly laid back machine. Intel core 2 duo 6300 and ATI 4550. I actually had an old drive with slow transfer speeds which gave me issues with playing large HD .mkv video files. I
