If it’s a BMW underneath, why would you assume it will have Toyota reliability?

Nobody who bought a supra cross shopped anything else; because if they had, they wouldn’t have bought a supra. This isn’t a dig at the car, its a dig at the price. You get so much more for the money elsewhere. You’re right, the folks that are buying one are buying it for completely subjective reasons, and cross…
I absolutely agree with embracing the flaws. And I’m very happy that you guys are enjoying it as much as you are.
But I think for a large portion of people looking for a sports car, Boxter and Cayman fit better at that price point. Or a 1M and M2, etc.
The lack of a manual runs counter to everything else that the 4C was. It would have sold better with a manual option. It would have sold better if a manual were the only option.
I think it’s a good car, but not at it’s price. Very few people are gonna spend $67k for a 1.8li 4-banger only good for 230hp. It’s mostly going to appeal to the driving feel guys, but the lack of a manual really hurts in that market.
Build an enthusiast car focused on feel rather than outright speed, and then leave out the manual transmission. DOA
It could have been a contender. It got killed by the lack of manual transmission and last minute weight increase for the US market.
Unpopular onion: Its not very good.
Weird Flex, but OK.
“Good Kinja” Andrew mused, squeezing out a morning turd “but certainly, not great Kinja.”
When Nissan send their cars, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending cars that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing CVT. They’re bringing mediocrity. They’re Rogues. And none, I assume, are good cars.
Guys, I think I’ve come up with a plan to save Nissan. They just have to sell new R34 GT-Rs instead of new R35s.
You can’t take a heritage car and bring it back as a rehash of another brand’s car. There is no excuse for Toyota doing this. Toyota knows how to make a sports car, and even if they wanted to be totally lazy, they could’ve taken the Lexus RC and started there.
Exactly. I wanted a Supra my whole life. Its really a BMW? Okay. I can deal with that. Its only an auto??!?
I think the problem here is that you can’t actually market this thing to people who don’t know about cars. There’s no wool-pulling. It’s not like the Urus (I finally have an excuse to drive a Lambo!) or some heritage-laden tweedmobile (Careful with the Jag, darling).
Lots of car names became famous to normies for…
