I agree with sending "ringers" to CD.  I have owned an '87 Merkur for 6 years and looking back at the magazine test cars, they were much quicker than the ones people purchased.  However, I'm not of the impression that works as well today with the enormity of voices in the car community to call out such silliness. And

He would almost have to be more sucessful as an F1 owner than he was as an F1 driver...

It is indeed the winning car from 2017, the W08, with a halo and the front wing. You can tell from a lot of the differences but mostly by the shape of the side pod inlets.

Then the F355 owner replies, more than you can afford pal, engine out service.

Having a non-running vehicle in their gravel trap may go against their HOA.

I think they're pretty much on the same level as these. These things would look right at home on just about any bland 90s sedan.

I’m close to the same age as you I think (41), and even back then I though they suck, but I agree there were some ugly ass wheels back in 1993. The tri-bar Viper wheels come to mind as being an uglier wheel than the Supra wheel.

I’d argue that these are pretty good wheels for 1993...

They were ugly in 1993

It’s at least on the Mt. Rushmore of Ugly Wheels on Desirable Cars. Which itself is on the Mt Rushmore of Esoteric Monuments.

I don’t think they are, but I don’t have enough facts to support my argument.

If you’re talking about the chrome, I hate chrome, so I kinda agree. But if you’re talking about the design, well 1993 was a different time. Pretty much any “alloy wheel” was a big upgrade for most cars.

I’ve always liked them. They also match the Celica and the MR2 of the same year (1994+)

Agreed.

Nope. If it came with a manual option this article would make sense but otherwise you can find sporty wagons with some sort of auto-like transmission.

I would really love to have a Levorg STI

Cool. So you’re going to learn on someone else’s clutch/transmission?

This is like David Tracy with a budget.

Agreed. When I read the tagline I assumed the article was talking about one of the race officials making a really uncharacteristic comment about future regulations. Alas, it's just a commonsense comment from a butthurt driver.

I could be wrong, but I don’t think pit crews for anything below F1 make anywhere near 6 figures.  I believe a good majority of them do it as more of a hobby than an actual main gig.
