I'm actually curious to know what the rule would be if they kicked the ball out of bounds. I believe in the NFL the line of scrimmage becomes a defined number of yards from where the kickoff took place (30 yards?). Would it be a half the distance penalty?

Yep. In my time on the grill at McDonalds (in the 80s), you'd occasionally hear calls of "14 on 4 for Brent" or something similar. Eventually, I realized that a "14" was a hot woman and the "4" was the window number. I TOO WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL AND IT WAS THE 80S LEAVE ME ALONE.
