That teaser was pretty intense. But I knew expecting that kind of gritty story would be getting my hopes up. Besides, I just didn’t need a Cars 3. Skipped it in theaters, but when I finally watched it at home, I was quite delighted by some of what it had to say.

The inside joke is that Kyle Petty is the son of Richard Petty, who voiced “The King” in the first film.  All of the jokes about Cal being easily replaceable and often overlooked are jokes that Kyle endured throughout his actual racing career.
