Sarah Vowell is so good as Violet, especially in Incredibles 2. They give her (and the animators in charge of her facial expressions) so much to work with and she becomes the best character in it by a mile. 

Disney seems to have moved midway in this respect... they still want to cast actors with some name recognition, but at least make sure they have the right vocal qualities for the role.

I think it’s that whole “Aryan men can do anything” spiel.

She also played Danielle Rousseau in Season 6 of Lost. Season 5 was the only season in which the actress didn’t appear.
