This looks like it’s from the eventual photo shoot Annie Leibovitz will do of the actors for Vanity Fair.

A better comparison for ‘Into Darkness’ might be ‘Spectre’, as both have their villain announcing their name in a dramatic way that comes as a reveal metatextually but would have the characters within the story going, “Okay. Not sure why you said it like that.”
Look, I’m not saying it was a good thing that Mexican actor Ricardo Montalban was hired to play an Indian man, but he does at least read as a little closer to the right skin tone than desaturated glass of milk Benedict Cumberbatch.
Agreed.
io9 always takes the side of the alternate scene/ending but come on that was super cheesy and unbelievable. Hawkeye reaching out his hand like that? Natasha somehow dodging bullets and lasers for a ton of movies in a row then gets hit by random off-screen shots? Saving Clint last minute? This was already cheesy and…
It also suffered from an incredibly rushed writing schedule: EON finally settled the decades-long legal mess that had kept them from using SPECTRE or the Blofeld character since the Roger Moore era while “Bond 24" was still in pre-production with — at least as rumor had it — a mostly finished script. Instead of…
The judges would have also accepted: “Suck the light and colour out of it."
I think the subtext is that Natasha loves the Avengers as her family, and is sacrificing herself for them. She is doing the opposite of what Thanos did, which was a selfish act.
Seriously, this idea needs to go away. Black Widow, the morally worst Avenger—what with actually being a former assassin and killer for hire—gets a big hero sacrifice moment of the type that normally go to Steve Rogers, and all everyone does is complain that she got screwed over.
You tip 1 roll of TP per order. Tip with 2-ply if it is a large order or contactless delivery.
I agree. I think it’s always dumb, but the dumbness is slightly less now. The chances of a run killing someone in a direct way due to higher traffic seems much higher than the chance the somehow they divert resources that could have helped a coronavirus patient and so someone else dies that way.
I think the idea that it’s somehow worse to do this during the coronavirus is quite wrong—yes, a crash will pull resources away from the virus, but a crash during “normal” times could very well kill a family or other innocent roadgoers. Minimizing the risk of that kind of incident seems to at least balance the…
I get this “oh yeah, I forgot that was a thing!” feeling
Every time I read or hear something about GoT, I get this “oh yeah, I forgot that was a thing!” feeling. Like my mind has just made every attempt to forget that last season, or even the show in its entirety, ever existed. Which is a shame because the first season was fucking electric. It was just so goddamned…
Cancelling Rome was such a mistake they eventually brought over a huge amount of the cast for Game of Thrones. I call Rome Proto-Thrones. As it was Game of Thrones proof of concept. HBO was also idiotic as those Box Sets still sell to this day really well apparently.
The prequels and ROS have opposite problems. The prequels actually have a pretty damn good story, but you can’t tell under the shitty effects and worse acting. ROS looks much better and has much better acting, but the story is a fart.
Exactly. What’s interesting is how my interests have changed. Back in the prequel days I would have voted for plot above all. But now? I’ve learned to appreciate the value of acting and chemistry, I guess.
It’s funny, cause when you look at it, the prequels had a pretty coherent story-arch and some pretty good ideas (especially how democracies are vulnerable to populist sentiment) but suffered from poor acting and chemistry among its stars. Meanwhile the final trilogy had some really good acting and great chemistry with…
Watching RoS at home — while dipping in and out of the prequels over on TNT — reinforce one important point: there’s something to be said for acting talent (and halfway decent dialog).
Honestly, I had a blast watching back in december last year. Could different choices have been made, sure. But I’d rather enjoy what I get than bitching ceaselessly on the internet over what never was. (I did that already over the prequels. Fifteen friggin years ago.)
