As a practical matter, can someone explain how being fired can lead to loss of pension? I thought once you’re fully vested in a pension and/or 401(k)/retirement plan, that money is fully yours. Maybe it’s different for public employees?

Fair point, I heard the lead-up to the interview (and the first few minutes of it) live the other day and while I truly appreciate LeBatard speaking truth to power, it does come across that he’s almost shocked! shocked! that this is happening in baseball in 2017.
