Some places it’s legal to roll stop signs on a bicycle under certain circumstances. Haven’t heard of that applying to a stoplight. Check your local laws.

Bicyclists can still get speeding tickets. I don’t think you spoke too soon. This guy was actively trying to go faster. He is pedalling hard at least half the time. He could not pedal and sit up a little to brake with wind resistance, that would’ve kept him behind the motorcyclists without touching the actual brakes. And he still could have enjoyed his reward…
