It's weird to watch this show after starting to watch Jane The Virgin, which is crammed full of plot but manages to feel grounded, entertaining, and not nearly as busy as it really is.

He offered to give it up several times.

How many episodes have included Mellie vowing to destroy Fitz? I feel like the show is operating like a greatest hits album at this point.

The problem is that they spend so much time on these cases of the week, which are usually more focused on Annalise that it makes the rest of the show feel underdeveloped.

I'm oddly saddened. This was one of my favorite shows to hate watch.

I think that's a problem with a lot of modern tv. There's too much trying to be #OMG because of the heightened drama of shows like Scandal and Empire.

The show is just way too cluttered without a particularly strong presence to hold it all together. How To Get Away With Murder and Scandal are both pretty bad but they at least have Viola Davis and Kerry Washington.

Yeah, it doesn't seem to make any sense, especially since they seem to push this idea that running for president was her ultimate goal. It makes her seem horribly shortsighted to be completely destroyed and derailed by a position she fought to keep and apparently isn't doing much in. She's like the anti Claire

It does get tiring to see Fitz getting proclaimed as the worst when all of the characters are pretty horrible.
I guess the problem may be because Fitz isn't a terribly interesting character, so it's easier to proclaim me to be the worst character on the show.
But everyone on the show is pretty awful.

Any problem she has with being First Lady is her own fault, since she was the woman behind the man who got Fitz into office.
I really wish she would get called on that, this idea that this cage of her position is her own doing.

I almost wish I could ask the writers what they think of Mellie, because giving her monologues like in the last episode seems like an effort to put her in this position as Poor Mellie the Victim who sacrificed so much for her husband.
I don't know a huge amount about the position of First Lady, but aren't they allowed

She had an affair with a married man (Who shares in the blame, of course). I don't think it's slut shaming or being prudish to think that adultery is not a good thing.

Everyone on the show is kind of terrible. I think Fitz gets a lot of flack, but it's not like he's unique in how horrible he is.
The going to war thing was an interesting situation, because it highlighted the idea the Olivia is more in love with the idea of Fitz the Great President and when she was forced to deal with

I think the thing with the relationship is that it hinges on this idea that Fitz and Olivia think they're sacrificing true love for the greater good, because I guess Fitz is a good president?

I think that since the Mellie rape reveal, the show has decided that she's ultimately a tragic victim, which I don't get from it at all.

Does anyone else have issues with this narrative that Mellie has sacrificed SO MUCH for Fitz?

It's like if scientists were monitoring my brain and decided to create a human being for me. Dark haired nerdy guys just do it for me.

The problem is that it turns ANTM into The Real World. Suddenly it's less about "Well, this girl wrote in my brownies" and more "So I like this guy, but he has to kiss this girl during the photoshoot and I don't like that." It's watching 18-25 year olds act like horny, petty toddlers.

It's Wes, but he's obviously a red herring (Much like communism). He probably saw what happened and is chasing after the person and/or trying to get help.

Oh Lord, this season is a mess.
