Just shows how heavy that Veyron is. I'm amazed that it was that close, disregarding the jump off the line in the first one. I imagine with AWD and iNannys galore the drivers don't matter much at all between these two cars.

@JayBrizzle: Wow. That's...almost....attractive.

Does it really take a B-52 to get that thing up in the air? Couldn't they have dropped it from an F-16 or something? That B-52 probably consumed more oil getting up there and back than the Deep Horizon spill.

@ne1butu: I went to court once over a speeding ticket, and I waited behind about 10 red light runners. The judge was awesome. He didn't tell any of them that he had video until after asking the drivers if they were really really really sure they were stopped in the photo showing them at the red-light intersection

@Elhigh: That's still not witnessing the event though, that's just analyzing evidence. Even if police officers were looking at the images to serve tickets they couldn't classify themselves as witnesses, let alone the private contractors.

@komododave: Regardless, most of the oil at this point is underwater. Look at my link above. The dispersants are only doing good in that they're making the spill appear smaller from the air.

Anyone interested in learning more about the mostly-unsung horrors of this spill should check this out:

@irishman72: Hmm. If it were up to me that quote would be COTD.

Am the only one who's most disturbed by the fact in this story that the kid has apparently never used power tools before? And has facial hair? I'm sorry, but no spawn of my own is getting near a 500bhp supercar if he doesn't know which way to point a Makita drill with 4ft/lbs of torque. Christ, shame on this writer

So how long before SUVs start flying off cliffs? I can't imagine this helps rollover-prone vehicles. I guess that is an added bonus. I'm starting to like this Hawaii place.

@I. Heart. Cars.: Oh. I was thinking it would give me some MotoGP-level lean angles...

Why does he keep talking about how he's adding "tech" to the discussion? It wouldn't surprise me that this dude is mad scientologist.

@xzzy: that's assuming the road he was driving on was at the same level of the building.

@Tanshanomi: That's because motorcycle riders have girlfriends.

@sdvictor: Because when you spend your entire mature life operating something by instinct professionally you develop what's called muscle memory. Trust me if you were oversteering towards a wall at 200mph you'd be opposite-locking that bitch too, not thinking about the logical consequences of losing your front wheels.

@utahnguy: Uhh, why would it have to be crap? You're missing the point that towing companies and parking enforcement are complete assholes. I have a '64 Thunderbird that is a perfectly good car, but I like to keep it covered. I also happen to live across the street from the police station where the guys like to park

@FrankGrimes: No no, the point particle_weight was making about this being un-sprung weight is that lbs lost there affects the handling much more than those same lbs anywhere else. A wheel and its connecting components weight adds inertia to the suspension travel which makes the shock's damping job harder. The

Have mercy, ferrari. I never gave the 599 two looks before the 599xx came out, and now this.
