In what sense? Fairly certain California isn't that far removed from the other states. Heck, Texas isn't that far behind in total GDP or population size.

I dunno, dude. The other western countries seem to make it day by day, without pushing companies out due to safety regulations (at least not as dramatically as the US has done it). They seem to make it from A to B, without flying through their windshields.
