The very first thing he did in his very first comics appearance was go toe to toe with the Fantastic Four and beat the Thing in hand to hand combat and they established very early on that he was a genius scientist and an incredible fighter. So what you call “Mary Sue” I call just being generally a badass.

My very favorite thing about this story is how everyone in Smallville knows he’s Superman. They’ve known and protected him his entire life. That’s the exactly the sort of upbringing that would create someone as altruistic as Superman. An entire community treating you like family.

Max Landis is killing it with this series. He should be writing a Superman movie.
