we all still champion a host of objectively terrible cartoons that were just 22-minute toy commercials, and most of us can simultaneously love and praise a thing and acknowledge that it isn’t actually, well, good.

His next film, the dystopian action thriller Elysium, starring Matt Damon, was thinking-man’s science fiction and another win.
When I got a bit older it also made me feel a tad uncomfortable because it was as if the film is saying “Yeah D-FENS is racist but he’s not bad racist, like a Nazi is!”
I’m with the studio on this, since I associate D&D with a… not quite a setting, but maybe a concept or platform for storytelling, rather than a particular story. To name a movie just Dungeons & Dragons would be a bit like calling it Marvel Comics or PlayStation.
Definitely an underrated and more nuanced flick than online reactives give it credit for.
I had the same feeling when I rewatched American History X last year. Both movies are arguably more relevant now than when they were released.
The movie manages to be simultaneously anchored to the exact time it was made (DFENS being a defense contractor who just lost his job due to the end of the Cold War) and more relevant than ever (pathetic middle-aged white guy snapping and going on an increasingly violent rampage).
The “twisted minds” behind Hamilton and Tick tick boom? Super weird framing as neither of those are “twisted” in any way, but ok.
The World’s End is so underappreciated.
I’m pleased by the fact that the first time I ever heard about this show was people complaining that it’s not as good as it used to be.
Steve Howey and Ginger Gonzaga
You know how I can tell you’re not a FnF fan? You put one of the best movies on the “worst” list.
Are you high?! Rocky III is the best Rocky movie of all time, the best boxing movie of all time, and in the top three best sports movies of all time!
Counterpoint-Rocky III is a fantastic movie and frankly, is superior to Rocky IV. You have a much better “villain” in Clubber Lang than Ivan Drago (who’s only reason for existence is because of the Cold War) and it cements the growth in Rocky and Apollo’s relationship from rivals to friends, which lays the groundwork…
Something must be wrong with you. You should try again.
It’s way worse than something like Rocky III, which just flat out has no business being on this list.
Maybe my math is bad but that seems like more than 10 of each category.
Come on, Romano has done fine work outside of his sitcom. He was outstanding in The Big Sick, and in his Men of a Certain Age he kept up with Andre Braugher, for goodness sakes. Give the guy a little respect.
I do feel like Johnny Marr & Morrissey get asked about their feud fairly frequently. Roger Waters (mostly) & David Gilmour (usually via his partner) seem to bring theirs up unprompted though. But those are same-band pissing matches, so maybe they don’t count.
