Not trying to pick sides here, but one thing Barstool definitely kicks Deadspin’s ass at is actual engagement with athletes. A LOT of athletes follow Barstool and interact with their writers and appear in their content (in their podcasts, in their videos, etc.). Barstool invented the “SATURDAYS ARE FOR THE BOYS”

Barstool has been gaining a ton of popularity and has gained A LOT on Deadspin in terms of page views the past few years. Always felt like Deadspin intentionally tries not to cover them for fear of giving them publicity.

She def came off as far more truthful than DeMario. At least she kept her story straight. He went from “I don’t know her” to “She’s crazy” to “Well maybe we hung out” in like 30 seconds. “The man might not be a prize” is a pretty big understatement.

Maybe afraid of what else he could leak? I don’t know, I agree it seems crazy, but it also seems hard to believe that if he was the leaker that its just purely coincidence.

Not making any judgments yet, but if he really WAS the Wikileaks leaker, then his death is pretty fucking suspicious isn’t it? Guy shot in the back in the middle of the night, with no valuables taken (despite having numerous valuables on him) shortly after the leaks? I have a lot of trouble imagining the Clinton’s

The WNBA is completely subsidized by the NBA to the tune of millions of dollars. It has never even come close to making a profit and its popularity is not really increasing. By existing for 20 years it hasn’t really proven anyone wrong because its continued existence is solely due to the NBA’s continuing decision to

Seems like you need to first get people “somewhat invested” before they can become those “rabid” fans. You gotta start somewhere.

You def have one of the more bizarre commenter shtick’s, but I gotta admit I get a little bit excited when I’m in a state where I can smoke cigarettes in doors. Feels like I’m just breaking all the rules. Also, I don’t even smoke.

Is this your rationale for burying all the comments that imply that the reason for the lack of interest is the poor quality of the on the court product?

I’m not sure what your point is. Everything on tv has to compete with everything else on tv. There’s nothing special about the WNBA in this regard, yet the WNBA performs consistently worse than most other things on television. This is primarily because it is not a good basketball product.

Can we not just admit that the WNBA doesn’t do well because the product isn’t good? The game is incredibly slow and played entirely below the rim. I’m not sure there’s any real solution that’s going to make people want to watch something that is just not entertaining. That isn’t intended to be a dump on women’s

Totally, I sometimes think I SHOULD like it (I’m a huge basketball fan), but when I put it on, I just . . . can’t. I feel like the entire game is being played in slow motion and all the players are wearing weighted belts.

People figured it out pretttty quick, but it was announced before any layoffs had occurred and it was sort of an unusual policy at the time (its become more widespread now) so people weren’t really sure what to make of it. We were given a set time period (I think 3-4 month) to use the accrued days after which they

I work at a large law firm and during the recession when mass layoffs were happening all over the place. It just so happened that jusssstttt before those layoffs the firm changed their vacation policy to “unlimited”. This was sold as being this great new benefit for the attorneys, but after the layoffs it became

I’m all in on getting Billy McFarland, but don’t really see how there would be a case against the models. They were paid to promote something and they promoted it? Why would it make a difference if they were Victoria’s Secret models or Instagram models? If you buy a product and it sucks and you’re not satisfied, do

I think it’s pretty easy to root against an egotistical asshole. Guy came out after UCLA got bounced from the tournament and blamed the loss on Lonzo’s “white” teammates despite the fact that Lonzo got owned by D’Aaron Fox. I hope BBB goes up in flames just to watch Lavar eat shit.

The stories are definitely just more publicized (especially on the Gawker media sites that seem to just have a real hard-on for posting negative stories about them). Lyft and cabs have just as many issues (seriously how many female cab drivers have you ever even seen in your whole life?).

Because Uber/Lyft are pretty much superior to cabs in every way? Examples:

Yeah, I see that now, but per my other response the original Jordan stuff was all just basically normal Nike stuff, it didn’t really start being on its own until Jordan was JORDAN. It’s also a brand Nike owns so I don’t think we can really compare it to this licensing arrangement Lavar wants.

Fair enough, but per your point the original “Jordans” were pretty much just normal Nikes, “Jordan Brand” didn’t really become a thing until Jordan became JORDAN. Nike also owns Jordan brand, it doesn’t license it. It gets the benefit of the brand’s growth. I guess I just don’t see what the incentive would be for
