It really seems like fat people bring out the worst in otherwise “good” people.

I think you’re full of shit. If you had purchased a vehicle new and it was less than 2 years old with trim pieces falling off the car, WITH a 5 year manufacturer warranty, you’re telling me you’d be OK with them not fixing it? Bc of some bullshit reason? GTFO. This is a documented problem with other models of same…
Because the CAFE requirements give varying requirements and preferential treatment based on wheelbase and track width. http://www.autonews.com/article/20160814000100/OEM11/308159946?template=print
I’m 6'1", 325 lb. My size has never caused a component in any of my vehicles to break, and that includes the ‘05 Accord coupe that I owned for 150,000 miles. Poor design is no excuse for poor customer service.
I think he did his diligence, but the data he needed wasn’t provided for this. I’m not sure anyone even knew this would happen at all, and he seems to fit within Hyundai’s stated design parameters. I just think hyundai either needs to redesign this part or make the limitations clear to buyers. Really, every carmaker…
Hello, I am a Certified SJW. Not true, I also care about fat men, including this dude with a crappy seat cover and Hyundai’s bullshit excuse that he’s too fat to be covered by warranty. They covered this in my training courses.
Or the manufacturer could list it in the specs. Office chairs do this. Bicycles do this. If they design to 275, that’s fine, they just need to list that somewhere.
I agree. The main thing here is that we don’t even know if his weight is responsible for the repeated failure of the part. But either way, Hyundai is handling this very disgracefully.
I guess if they say he is getting out of his seat wrong they should put specific instructions in the owners manual on how one is to get in and out the seat correctly. I don’t think I would let my being a large person void my warranty.
5'9" and 300lbs is “big”? He’s not petite, and he is fat, but I was thinking this was going to be a tale of a big Bill Brasky type bastard 6'8" and 450lbs, a real monster.
A story from a service manager I used to work for...
300 pounds is a large person, but hardly outside of the range of normal human beings that an industrial designer should consider.
Unless they can prove that HE is breaking it (like putting his body weight on it) then yes, they need to keep fixing it until it stops breaking or the warranty expires.
Thanks to the bad publicity, Hyundai is pinching pennies while dollars will fly out the window. Would you want to buy a car from a company that is so dickish?
Jamiroquai’s “Butterfly” makes me do 200, so I suspected Canned Heat would make me do 300. Virtual Insanity just makes slide around in a little room like human Gymkhana. It’s like traveling without moving.
You are a strange fellow. Let’s be friends.

In my experience that ugly humpbacked sister is far more freaky, adventurous, and full of nasty fun than her more traditional looking sister.
