It’s called defensive posture, and it is a critical requirement.

There are many economic and political reasons not just defense reasons. For example every country has territorial waters and exclusive economic zones that are certain distances from shore. If the successfully claim this land it would prevent any other country from fishing nearby without special permissions. This area

Not saying I don’t agree with scaling back operations, but the reason we “buzz” the Chinese Islands is to prevent China from calming international water as their own. In the US, your neighbor can build a fence across your property; if you do not dispute it after a period of time it actually becomes their land. So in

I know these feels.

Tarvis looks so comfortable on screen in that intro.

Even a beat to shit 4runner won’t drop that low. My 05 with the 4.7 2WD and 125k on the clock is in decent condition and we did a valuation on it recently (I work at an auto insurance company) for shits and giggles. By no means is it in great condition but still would pull $12-14k if it was totaled.

Maybe something with a salvage title or bad frame and can’t be inspected. Seriously, if you have a link to a 2009 4runner at this price point that is inspect-able, share it. I’d gladly fly out somewhere to pick it up.

Mr. Regular isn’t exactly a car expert. He’s just a guy who does heavily subjective reviews of cars with limited (and often incorrect) research that he briefly includes in his mostly entertaining videos. Some of the mistakes he makes indicate heavily that he really doesn’t know all that much about cars and that he

I never knew Mr. Regular was so damn hot.

I’m sure the goatees will be artisanal.

Next season we’re all going to stand around cross-armed, covered in grease, wearing in our matching TV shirts that say Jalopnik Garage. Also we’re getting full-body tattoos and goatees.

Have only watched a couple of these so far and I have to say it’s very odd to see two hipster city guys who otherwise don’t seem to have: grown up with cars, open roads, off-road, ever held a wrench, or even as ‘car guys’. Obviously they know cars, it just doesn’t come across that way at first blush at least.

There’s a similar Indian “Ideal Boy” series parodied by a comic called Adarsh Balak (basically the same thing).

Yes, just look at the thing, really look at it. Beating a Mustang or Corvette in a Talon/Eclipse/Laser is one thing, that at least looks sporty. Beating that same driver in a boring 4door with 90s styling...that’s just plain embarrassing :)

No the caption above ABSOLUTELY IS NOT a real episode of Goofus and Gallant. Goofus and Gallant was really about teaching children (especially boys) how to be well mannered, courteous, helpful to others and gracious.

14yrs ago you paid 1500 for a 1990 non-VR4 Galant.

oh man... you have alot to learn... I’ve actually owned both an accord v6 manual and a 4G63 car and I’m sorry but there is no comparison. In stock form they are nearly identical and if you throw 2 grand in each I can tell you right now.... It wouldn’t be close

are you insane? have you heard of the 4G63? If so.... that is some badass lipstick my friend... you sound like a snob....

I’ve owned enough Mitsubishis and DSMs to appreciate this car at this price. But I’ve also owned enough Mitsubishis and DSMs to be wary of owning one as a daily driver.

The VR4 was basically a 4 door DSM Talon/Eclipse. It’s quite a bit more than lipstick.
