While she is shiny, her “acting” is only slightly better than Hayden’s. It doesn’t matter who is to blame ultimately (Lucas?), that “romance” dialog is some of the worst of any big budget movie. Both of them (Portman and Christensen) have shown that they can do far better.

Agreed. I’d go so far as saying that if AotC’s B-plot (Obi-Wan doing his whole “Philip Marlowe, Space Wizard” bit) had been the movie’s A-plot instead of the romance, it would probably be the third-best movie in the franchise after Empire and Episode IV.

I disagree. Attack of the Clones was a fine movie if you remove the few horrible (and they are just the worst) romance scenes. On the other hand Phantom Menace only has one or 2 decent scenes (Darth Maul fight and possibly the opening scene).

Since Episode I? Just one I’ve never heard of. He was in Jingle All the Way with Schwarzenegger before it. Since all he ever played was “annoying kid” he became pretty useless to Hollywood when he hit adolescence...
