Every one of those engines listed has roots from some engine designed in the 1950s and is just as related as a SBC is to a LT motor. Noone just creates a new engine from scratch.  They take an existing design, lop off or tack on a few cylinders, change the bore/stroke, then add some new tech.

Maintenance math is always funky. Cant play that “could have gotten” game because its impossible to do the math of where in the life-cycle you are on every part of your car. The “nice one” would have still needed tires, still needed fluids changed, and maybe had some other issues.

The 0-60 time isnt just faster with a dct, they are consistent.  In a manual version, you might get smoked at the stoplight by a Civic because you missed a gear or you smoked the tires too hard.

Isnt sales tax based on the address on your ID?  Even in Oregon they will bill the sales tax that is associated with the zip code on OPs drivers license.
