The Porsche 911 and Mercedes Benz G-Class. Retro is easy when you practically never change the design.

Ok, part of me is doing this just to be contrarian and see how hot the flames get stoked in the comments... but I’m going out on a limb and saying this anyway:

It’s hard to explain to kids these days how much this redesign blew us all away.

I don’t get why they call it terrible in the article, I mean it’s not a great car by modern standards but at the time it was a good muscle car and especially the variants were great.

Beat me to it, totally agree, they got it right, sales success, success with the critics and motoring public, retro done right.

The new Beetle was a really, really big deal in 1998. People were absolutely clamoring for these things. Like them or not, they carried the spirit of the original forward and everyone, young and old, went nuts for it. Both my Spitfire and Land Rover have neatly installed small subs like this. And my Volvo V70 had that exact MB Quart sub. And very upgraded stereo systems besides. I like to be able to hear my music and have it sound decent. Spoiled by the fancy modern factory systems in my Germans.

It’s weird because the books are much more nuanced, mature and clever than the show gives it credit for, but still very schlocky, barely-better-than-mid fantasy despite its fans thinking it’s Great Literature.

i’m down for this aston miatan

Counter-point: when so asserted by Rudy Giuliani, it IS in fact framed as an accusation.

Would it be pedantic to suggest changing the wording from “accusations that Bloomberg is gay... similar accusations that Matt Damon is gay.” to assertions that Bloomberg is gay... similar assertions that Matt Damon is gay?

It's like a pug or a bulldog, so ugly it's cute. I would buy it but it doesn't come with the steering wheel so I'm out.
