I kinda agree but it really depends on the art. I find Polanski to be a monster but I can still watch Rosemary’s Baby without thinking about him 5 minutes after the movie gets rolling.

It’s tougher when the art has a social message and/or the artist puts so much of their own persona into the art and when they immerse…

I’d say dwelling on the aspects of reality, and letting them hold you down, is much different than accepting reality. For example, I know I must die, I know I am gradually approaching death (memento mori)... but I don’t lament my fate and stop trying to live well because of it.

I think that’s mutualism. At least in biology, symbiosis is a broader term that includes both it, commensalism and parasitism.
