Other commenters have done a nice job correcting some of the misimpressions the article gives. I’ll offer a few more general points, in response to

The problem is that said simulated Neural Networks can’t be run at real time as Simulated Neural Networks are much slower than that.

it is not clear if failure to produce identification is “reasonable suspicion” of an immigration offense or not.

Until I heard the lawyer-passenger say “my brother” I was wondering why the driver didn’t tell him to STFU.

(I have long admired your Vancean user name.)

What an excellent introduction to this topic. Thanks.

    Oh, yeah, you ruined it.

3,000+ H1B visa holders are a little stuck if they want to move, which they probably do.

The Astribot shirt-folding demo is impressive. I’m finding news reports from just a year ago about state-of-the-art clothing folding robots that look to be much slower (“35-40 items per hour”). This suggests better image processing and better control, maybe better physical manipulators.

When I was in high school I thought the Subaru Brat was the coolest car ever.

Something funny: For most of the makes, the most-cited versus least-cited models make sense. Honda S2000s are most cited, CR-Vs least; Kia Stingers most, Souls least; VW GTIs most, Touaregs least; etc. But BMW? i3s get the most tickets, Z4 the least.

Best answer I’ve seen so far. Exclusivity combined with subtlety: “I know I’m driving a stylish car, even if the average person doesn’t.”

Thanks for the validation: my two cars are a JCW Clubman and a Boxster S. Both running at the moment.

The catch was, I’d never be able to buy or build another car ever again.

Obama’s only half to blame. The Key Bridge was built in 1977, during the Carter administration. So Biden 50%, Obama 50%, Carter 50%. Thanks, Democratic Presidents who had nothing to do with this!

Used Tesla Model 3, for about $20k.

Pretty much. I mean, I was driving an E90 BMW 3-Series for almost a decade before I sold it this past year, and my other cars have also been called out (mainly earlier BMW 3-series and Audis).

I saw this video, and the only caveat I’d have is that there’s a cut in it. I’m curious about how long the cut lasted.
