Yeah, it may be more prevalent among men, but it's certainly not a gendered thing, and that prevalence, in my experience is slight.

Yeah, to think, people react badly to sexist proposals. And now that's a bad thing?
Of course, part of the irony in this piece is that she deliberately goes to places like reddit that will expectedly have the most over-the-top, douchebaggy responses, and then says this is the response from men.
What on earth is the male-side of the experience? Women do this to men, men do this to women. What's with the rigid gender roles?
If the roles were reversed there would be an uproar here about what a horrible superficial douchbag the guy is for sleeping with a woman that cares about him and then going on to choose the former supermodel. What we absolutely wouldn't here is the idea that, well, he had to sleep with her to see if she's compatible.
Good for you! As much as I hated chores when I was little, I appreciate now how my mom made sure my sister and I had tasks to do, non-gendered, indoors and outdoors, and as we got older she expected us to become self-sufficient.
What the nine hells does he even mean by that?? It's offensive and sexist, but I can't tell if he even had a point other than just being offensive and sexist.
I absolutely need to hook this guy up with someone I'd seen who had a similar crazy dealbreaker list. And then make a reality TV show about them. . They would literally be the worst couple ever, spending all of their time sniping on every single person they came across, but they'd be too smug to realize that everyone…
Definltely, no problems here. And no 'wah wah' funny picture.
It's kind of like when the women shot the dude for not producing enough spunk. A lot of the comments just joked about it, and even the author thought it was entirely appropriate to make lite of it with a picture. Some people are just assholes.
Don't bother. Fairyvexed is a total lunatic who consistently justifies violence or rape against men and boys, and then blames the victim b/c of their gender.
Yes, you nailed it. And the subtext of the aritcle is that being a man means being reckless and violent, which is bullshit.
Oh totally, the idea still kind of mortifies me.
Well, 50+ hour work weeks
Yep, same here. I certainly haven't heard those words spoken aloud. And I ain't that old. Seems more like it's universal and pervasive........in certain communities.
And yet there have been plenty of sociological studies that have articulated the difference between institutionalized racism (also applies to sexism) and other forms.
You're arguing against the definition of established terms,. not to mention real world examples. Doing it condecendingly doesn't make you or your argument look any better.
We'd also being seeing a bunch of comments like
Meh, it's par for the course really.
