@zerothelegend: except they don't care about used PC sales, this is about used 360 sales.

@Spiffyness: I seem to remember there being mention of larger DLC that everyone will be charged for eventually. As to the "free stuff network" I would assume that if this does well enough they'll look into doing it for other games. All EA will care about is profitability.
Wow, talk about learning from the mistakes they made with the last game. Firstly, since I bought it new, that's just plain awesome. New content they've been working on after the game was released for free, content I'm sure I would have happily paid for (yes, I'm that guy). This can still work out for people buying the…
@doubtful: Fair enough. Hope I didn't come off too strong, rudeness wasn't my intention.
@PatrickSwayze: I'm still a little bothered that the content is on the disk but maybe I'm just oldfashioned in thinking I should have access to all the content on the disk automatically. Still, I agree with you. And it doesn't really effect me as I buy every game I can new even if it's months or years later.
@doubtful: I'm sorry but your assumptions are badly mistaken. Rather than rely on second or third hand information lets look at the number from gamestop itself. Gamestop makes 21 cents on the dollar for each new game sold Kotaku April 2009. A detailed analysis is avalible at the gamasutra article linked at the bottom…
@ysdarkfact: I think you've got it all wrong. EA (and other publishers) don't hate Gamestop, they just want a cut of the profits made on used game sales. People have been selling used games for years, Gamestop just formalized the process nationwide. Now that this has happened and everyone can see the huge numbers…
@ZGangsta: I get why people feel like the game was repetitive and I think they could have done a little to improve that but it really didn't bother me. Apparently I'm a good deal more forgiving than the average gamer because I didn't think Assassin's Creed was repetitive either.
@Squiffy: about prince of persia from 2008. I get what you mean about it being almost there. I loved the game and thought they did some great things with it but there was definately room for improvement. As to the lightheartedness, I think part of that was likely the fact that it was the first game in the…
@Stymie99: I thought it was obvious. The PS3 version certainly wasn't going to sell more than the 360.
@SlateSoda: I think the wording is a little ambiguous. Obviously he didn't mean it would beat the combined sales but it's unclear if he meant he thought it would sell better than MW2 on either platform or if he meant it would sell better than MW2 on at least one platform. Regardless, it's not that NSMB sold well that…
@Warbly: I listed the games and numbers in a post above but the big reason is that last year there were a lot of peripheral sales inflating the software numbers. The total number of units sold in the top 10 is up 892k over last year. People bought a lot more games this year, they just didn't buy as much of Wii Fit…
@Archaotic: Actually, they're great numbers. Last January all but two (Skate 2 and Lord of the Rings) of the top 10 was from the previous year and the overall numbers (in the top 10) were much higher this year. This is actually a really great start to the year, nice to see games like Darksiders chart.
Awesome to see ME2's sales so high, that's 100k more than the first game sold in it's first month. Hopefully these numbers are good enough for EA to maintain or increase the budget for the next game.
@stranger: Ah, now I understand the part you mean. You have a valid complaint there, it can be rather difficult to see where exactly it's telling you to go and what it is bracketing. I've found that it won't let you miss a major plot item, it will force the cutscene on you if you try to bypass the object, but for…
@D Mitsuki, Gotta have guts kid!: Perhaps, but the ratio of HDs to SDs is getting larger very quickly. They certainly could have done things differently from the begining to avoid the problem but they are optimizing the experience for HDTVs. If they thought SD was the primary format it would cost much less to make the…
@D Mitsuki, Gotta have guts kid!: I get what you're saying, and I have a lot of sympathy for SD customers, but the issue is a little different than you make it sound. They didn't write off half of america, more than half of the people who have a 360 have an HDTV. And adding a different font for SDTV's would take up a…
@stranger: The pop-up text? You mean when it tells you how much experience you got or that you got a new codex entry? That's not even worth complaining about if you can't read it. It only exists to tell you to go look in your codex or your journal. And I've got a 26" HD and sit 7' away from the TV and can read it all…
I have sympathy for those playing on a Standard Definition TV. The fonts look terrible for a number of games on them. More than that, the games don't really look all that good unless you've got an HDTV.
@Friedhamster: NPD numbers won't be released for another week or two
