(you can label the devices to help you keep track of them, but if you do, don’t name your vacuum ‘Kashmir Hill’s Roomba’ and avoid connecting devices to the network that have your name in their digital signature, such as ‘Kashmir Hill’s iPhone’)

I just watched that episode of The Grand Tour and have learned a few things. 1) Clarkson hates plants. 2) Detroit used to be Epic! and the richest city in the world! 3) Poor management can destroy a great city. But I kind of knew that one anyway. Im an hour drive from Rochester and Buffalo.

Dang, that’s gorgeous! If you had told me when I was a teen sneaking out of the suburbs to go dancing in downtown Detroit that there would be a renaissance like this, I would have really been surprised.  My brother and his wife lived downtown when they were at Wayne for med school- their building was right near the

Whew! Before it was a restaurant/venue, it was offices, where my sister worked. It was a gorgeous reception. This was many years ago.

I’ll also admit that the last time I actually drive over that bridge was back in 99. I had to get one of my cars out of there that I was storing when I heard that it was going to see the wrecking ball soon. I went there and drove my car out of its resting place and across the bridge one last time. Indeed the wrecking

Yeah I don’t do winter sports, they’re extremely expensive and dangerous. There’s only so many times I can pay hundreds of dollars for the pleasure of falling flat on my ass in public before I want to head back to the bar. I do hike and do longer backpacking trips up north though.

Well, Andrew has been to Detroit, and I, his managing editor, have lived in Detroit my whole life. I read the news, I drive its streets, I even pay taxes.

Now I’m waiting for the article cover the state of disrepair that the Hewlett Packard plant is in. When their bridge collapses it might release a huge toner cloud.

Can you write that again in English? I’m not sure if you’re supporting or refuting my comment...

Reading this before bed last night actually made just sad enough not to be able to fall asleep.

  • “The man, 21, ran off to hide and possibly fell through the elevator shaft on the ninth floor at the abandoned Hewlett Packard Plant in Detroit”

Writer: Says its sad part of iconic factory collapsed.
Commentor: Says theres much work going on to restore it, posts link.
Optimistic reader: opens link, finds irony to be alive and well when the header features the now collapsed, once iconic bridge.

Yes, it was strung up to show what the bridge would look like if it was restored to its original appearance, in an effort to attract investors and community support for redevelopment.

I’m amazed it lasted this long. Aside from the years of decay, metal scrappers really went at it big time a few years back and removed some key structural members.

This is sad, I always thought that if I ever got Fancy!Kristen rich, I would have to make the painful decision over whether to bring back Packard to compete with Rolls-Royce, or Dusenberg, to compete with Aston Martin.  Decisions, decisions.

Watching the latest TGT episode was kinda sad. Not because they are still doing it, but seeing all those old building that used to be full of people and activity just left to rot. Take the former theater (now parking garage) they did the noise test in. You could still see the echoes of what it once was, what it has

Only twice? We are talking North Face here.

Presumably the same way the gore-Tex does. Which is by allowing single molecules of water through in either direction but not more. Water vapor is exclusively single molecules, and except in some exotic conditions liquid water is always multiple molecules. Normal sweating works by using our excess body heat to cause

In the movie Interview with a Vampire, vampires in Paris have a special theatre where high society comes to watch the shows, where the plot is always of a terrified actress begging for her life, while the vampires tease her, and joke about death, and kill her. Except what the audience doesn’t know is that it isn’t
