Gravity Falls is one of those ‘game recognize game’ shows. Writers fucking love it, to the point where they write tributes to it every—fucking—where.
These are good choices, but in addition to Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas Sinclair (as G-Off has already mentioned), Joseph Quinn as Eddie Munson managed to deliver one hell of an arc, starting out as the metal stoner who I felt was offputting in his introductory scene (which I presume was deliberate) to the end where he…
I’m hopeful Mike gets a time to shine in S5, because I understand the complaints from people that he’s insufferable, yet I find him one of the most realistic characters in the ensemble and an interesting inversion of the usual “superhero’s girlfriend” tropes. He himself in this volume highlights how frustrating and…
I think it helps that the actors are so much older than they should be. While appearance-wise it isn’t always super useful, there are some moments where a young teen’s acting choices are overshadowed by the fact that their face, limbs and voice are no longer working the way they’re meant to. Add to that some more life…
I agree with this list, but Caleb McLaughlin deserves some credit. He might not have carried the whole season, but he offered up some of the best acting of the troupe, particularly in the finale.
Max’s story was the highlight of the season. It was much more poignant than I expected it to be. Just because it isn’t happy doesn’t make it ugly.
It’s just really weird that they didn’t split it up into three episodes when they had that act break right there. With the binge philosophy still driving these episodes, it makes virtually no difference if you package this ‘half’ as three equal sized episodes, two imbalanced movies, or one epic concluding cinematic…
The runtimes didn’t bother me. There’s even a fade to black about halfway into “The Piggyback” that just as well could have been the end to a penultimate episode that set up the finale of the second half. So it was like three episodes instead of two. I certainly wasn’t complaining.
Of all the terrible things to happen this year, Kate Bush finally getting the bag she deserves is a ray of hope.
I’m just going to come out and say it:
I really don’t understand this marketing campaign for The Flash.
Nice work if you can get it.
And here I’d heard a Lannister always pays his debts.
She was paid $7 million for a part that didn’t even make it into the Thor final cut? Thats nuts
I have nothing to add except that Winona is so cool.
Sam Rockwell and Saoirse Ronan just seems like a unfathomably brilliant pairing.
I’m in.
I couldn’t believe the sheer production scale of this episode. Ms. Marvel may be the most cinematic of the Disney+ shows. All the Karachi locations. The final wide shot of the Partition train. Not to mention completely new end credit animations entirely set in Karachi with the new characters instead of Kamala’s family…
Looks like the Supermax prison was introduced ahead of an expanded role/setting in She-Hulk.
Yeah, I genuinely think people just got mad that he went from being an approachable chubby doofus to being what the mainstream considers hot, and they resent him for that in the bizarre, way too personal parasocial way that the Way Too Online specialize in
