goddamn have I wanted this since Christopher Eccleston’s first season lol, the fact that he hasn’t even written another episode is heartbreaking

Maya Hawke’s role in this felt like a deliberate reference to Scream, where part of the shock comes from a big-name actor (Drew Barrymore being one of the biggest around at that time) getting killed in the opening sequence. it really ups the stakes for the remainder of the movie
I wasn’t sure if Goode was the villain or just a very ignorant cop, but I saw Sarah Fier being innocent and falsely accused by the town coming since about halfway through 1994. no complaints, though, it was a fun ride to get there!
“and in Glover’s case he kicked off a successful music career and television series after leaving the show in season four.”
goddamn about time Charlotte Nicdao gets recognised for her incredible work
a very true point that also confirms my original point even more: a Frost Giant losing to normal-ass humanoid guards in a fistfight is just absolutely ridiculous, it breaks the suspension of disbelief completely
it was literally whatever the scene required this season. on Lamentis he full-on stopped a building falling on them, which is a Scarlet Witch-level power he has never demonstrated before now. but in the very same episode, he was overpowered by 2-3 seemingly normal (human?) guards pretty easily in hand-to-hand combat,…
god he was the best part of this easily. went from funny to horrifying to tragic to manipulative multiple times a minute and made it look easy
it’s an acoustic version Thom played on KROQ years ago, slowed down, with some tape effects, noises and synth added on
no Emmy recognition for Backstory, at the very least, is absolute bullshit
a beautiful summary with the obligatory “fuck Scomo” as the icing on the cake. wonderful stuff mate
look I’m always glad to see Crowdies talk in the wild, but this slander against Woodface simply will not stand
Chivalry is Not Dead is the funkiest song of the year. so good
disturbing lack of Japanese Breakfast - “Paprika” and Julien Baker - “Hardline” on this list
I hate to be that guy but “Key West” is from 2020
yeah, we all say we want a film full of quiet character moments, but if Marvel ever made one of those it probably wouldn’t make it to the cinemas.
Adz is straight-up my favourite Sufjan, but The Ascension was so uninteresting I too am cheering that he’s back to making folk music again
gotta fully agree, and you didn’t really say anything controversial enough for such a salty thread, lmao.
I wish I liked Saint Maud. The first half was excellent, but starting from when they directly cribbed the most famous scene from The VVitch it was just a downhill slide. I was rolling my eyes by the end, which is one of the worst things you can say about an “elevated horror” or whatever the term is now.
It’s also just a matter of legality as much as anything. Reznor may consider Hurt Cash’s song on an emotional level, and power to him, but I’m pretty sure when a new artist wants to cover Hurt, permissions are coming from and royalties are going to Reznor’s estate, because it’s his name on the documents.
