it is the greatest performance I've ever seen, bar none. he didn't portray that character, he completely embodied it - tragically to the detriment of his health in real life, if some of the stories are to believed

this was great and I missed this show a lot, I’m glad it’s back
I have family there we visit every now and then, I can say with full confidence it’s the worst place in its immediate surrounds. Then again I’ve never been to the actual Florida so I don’t know how bad that really is
s3 grows the most out of any Fargo season on rewatch - I’d place it comfortably ahead of s1 at this point
Lithgow!
gotta say I thought there would be some Deftones hype here, that new album is super solid for their ninth (!)
maybe I’m dumb, but I thought Devil All the Time was one of the worst movies I’ve seen all year. I already had a bad feeling from the start when the hamfisted narration was spelling out everything that we were already picking up on the screen. but the point I gave up and just started hate-watching it was a scene about…
interesting that this one seems to be getting compared mostly to Age of Adz. that’s my favourite Sufjan by a mile, but I found the singles for this new album terribly unengaging and a bit flat
I’m a lot more excited for Black Widow than I was when it was first announced, for sure
oh god I'm with you there haha. pretty sure I'd be done by the 100th "LUST TO SUCCEED". if not that huge drop halfway through "Turning Violent" would end me
the design of the Nostromo is as much a contributor
the design of the Nostromo is as much a contributor
the design of the Nostromo is as much a contributor to Alien’s success as Giger’s designs, if you ask me. all that incredible work on the xenomorph wouldn’t be nearly as iconic if we could see it in clear light on a generic white spaceship from the moment it was born. the grimey underlit corridors with gas erupting…
Oceania was pretty damn good. frustratingly, the best Pumpkins songs after Machina never got recorded in the studio, eg “As Rome Burns”, “99 Floors”, “Mama” and a bunch more, whereas the absolute bullshit on Monuments to an Elegy did. man definitely does not know how to distinguish his good work from his bad anymore.
and in the most surprisingly and consistently underappreciated season of Fargo!
I’m halfway through Stories of Your Life and Others right now, actually (first time reading it or any Chiang too). I agree thus far “Tower of Babylon” and “Story of Your Life” are the clear highlights - the latter might be one of the best novellas I’ve read - but even his more ordinary stories still have some gorgeous…
as much as I agree, this is one movie I am fine waiting for because I feel like it will absolutely rule on the big screen. I’m basing that on nothing but a small trailer and some teasers, but I still believe it
I love The Terror and think it’s one of their most emotional, engrossing albums. man the rest of their output last decade was.... not good though
I would put "This Must be the Place" from Stop Making Sense up there in my favourite pieces of music ever, for real. such a warm, gorgeous, beautiful performance of that song
on the subject of The Weakerthans: surely we all know “This is a Fire Door, Never Leave Open” is the best song on that album. even if “My Favourite Chords” is my personal, well, favourite
