The over-protectiveness of Wally has gotten pretty old. He's a freaking adult, and oh yeah, an adult with superpowers. Joe is treating him like he's Mr. Glass.

And in fact they pointedly made any references to it as lazy and hacky as possible.

One of the smartest things 30 Rock ever did was background the sketch show, and then proceed to point out how bad it actually was whenever it did come up.
