I’m happy readers were given enough freedom to ascribe their own ethnicity to the characters. That said, I’m white and like Rowling grew up in very white part of Britain so I would have preferred to read about a explicitly black character.

I’ve just finished the Chronicles of the Black Gate where the whitest people where a slave race. I thought it would be a mechanism to highlight racial segregation/supremacy until I realised that the ones in power were also white (well pink). There were POC but they seemed like bit parts.
